The harmony of Eternal Principles
In today’s Omega, knowledge is being compared, at least at the level of analogies. Physics describes the development of quantum fields through their dynamics over a temporal span of nearly 14 billion years and in a spacetime described by general relativity. Analogously, the ancient yajna, the science of Vedic Sacrifice, describes the fracture that generated the Many from the One. It is a fracture that generated the infinite from the indefinite. An immense sacrifice that has taken place – and continues to take place – through the eons. A sacrifice that burns all matter into radiation. But a sacrifice with a residue: and that residue of fire is life.
Knowledge of the first second of the Universe takes us into the indefinite. This Alpha is indefinite because, within the first 10-43 seconds of life, quantum physics and gravitation must be used together, in harmony. They are inseparable because we find ourselves both within the Compton wavelength of quantum indeterminacy and within the Schwarzschild radius of a spacetime horizon. And this path leads to the indefinite. The structure of spacetime is indefinite when its very fabric is subject to Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle.
Anaximander’s indefinite… an initial indefinite amount of energy that then develops in a confrontation between opposites, becoming, for example, the equilibrium of radiation and matter in the primordial Cosmos. A primordial photon transforms into an electron (negatively charged) and a positron (positively charged). The indefinite manifests itself in this opposition – and often reabsorbs it, transforming the electron-positron pair back into photons. Whereas a photon, without an electric charge, transforms into a negative electron and a positive positron. These are then reabsorbed into photons. And so on.
When the Universe is 380,000 years old in cosmic time, its first Dawn is born. The light of the recombination of protons and electrons is ignited, which corresponds to the emergence of the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation everywhere. Light traverses all space and all time. At this point of equilibrium between Alpha and Omega, matter is born, atoms are born. And the echo of this birth is still with us, in the temperature of the Cosmos. It is 2.7 degrees Kelvin above Absolute Zero: the echo of the birth of the atom.
Stars are born when the Universe is hundreds of millions of years old. Clusters of matter, gas, and dust gather to form the new furnaces of the cosmos, to illuminate it with a new light. A new sacrificial fire is lit by the Advaryu, the cosmic officiator of the Vedic sacrifice: it is the fire of thermonuclear fusion, the one that lights all the suns.
Stars are forming, using existing atoms. And then they die, returning other atoms to the Cosmos – not the same ones. Not exactly the same ones. Suns are cosmic forges, changing the mix of particles in the Universe.
Our planet comes late, formed when the Universe is almost ten billion years old, along with the entire system of our star. A star formed from material already modified by previous stars. A star that forms with planets, along with many other planets around other stars. On this small planet, our history is born.
A long history, the history of an indefinite time from which the Universe takes its cue to become infinite. Alpha, as the Big Bang, generates the Microwave Background Radiation and forms the stars, forms the galaxies, forms the planets. And it forms humanity, and the unconscious, and the magic with which humanity sees the Sky. Its true origin.
